When it comes
to the question of what we should do about Iraq,
it seems to me
that what Americans have to come to terms with first and foremost
is…
“How does one deal with a democratically elected
leader and Congress that is ineffective, irresponsible and
unresponsive to the needs of the people whose votes put them in
office?”
The next
question is…
“How can a
nation hope to gain any realistic solution to a particular problem
with so many distractions left unattended?”
There are daily
acts of violence in the streets,
continuous
internal security threats posed by foreigners illegally crossing
unprotected borders threatening the peace, stability and sovereignty
of this nation,
increasing
religious and political fragmentation,
the
reconstruction of physically destroyed cites dragging on for years,
authorities
paralyzed by constant arguments between uncompromising, self-serving
factions to the point of complete failure in arriving at any real
solutions --much less serving the needs of the populous,
the fair
distribution of profits from oil revenues.
Serious
issues to be addressed in health-care, education, housing,
corruption and
misuse of power in the corporate world as well as the political
world remain unchecked.
There is a
nationwide decaying and still neglected infra-structure.
Then we find
all of these elected officials declaring their intentions to take a
month-long vacation while the soldiers they commanded to go to war
are still in the field fighting and dying to protect this
vacationing leader and Congress.
But enough
about the United States, the pressing question is what should we
really do about Iraq?

You #*!$%*#& Kidding Me?"
